MadeByRachel evolved out of my fascination with fabric and functionality. Frustrated by the repetitious nature of mass-produced accessories, I started developing my own handbags using a unique combination of textiles and recycled materials.

For the last two years, the focus of MadeByRachel has been on unique one-of-a-kind handbags. In the early spring of 2007, I decided to commit to sewing with 100% recycled materials as often as possible. I hope that by focusing on recycled materials, I can lessen the negative social and environment impact that comes with buying new fabric and clothing. This new focus has resulted in some interesting collections, including custom t-shirt de/reconstruction and dresses, tops, skirts, and handbags from vintage fabric, ties, used jeans, and recycled sheets and pillow cases, guaranteeing originality in everything I sell. I hope you'll join me in creating a "new-to-me" take on clothing and accessories.
